This extraordinary chair cushion is from one of the last Disneyland Monorails original frames that carried passengers in 1959. Disneyland monorails took many changes over the few decades. This cushion is from one of the last existing train car/frames and out of the last re-designed 1980’s Blue car .
In 2009 Disneyland had their last existing monorail frame from the 1959 destroyed. So there is nothing left from that great era than a handful of cushions.
In 2009 The Disney 1313 Disney Club & Ape Pen Publishing , were on a mission to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Monorail, Matterhorn & Submarines. Carlene Thie started to work on this event, looking for items from the 3 attractions.
In this case and a great idea of creating a chair , with the cushion was thought of. With the idea of having Disney Legend Bob Gurr design the frame concept, and Garner Holt making it happen by making the frame. What an awesome team Bob & Garner made, creating a great work of art the “Monorail Chair”. Thanks Guys!!!
